What music player will sync with my electric piano keyboard?

Okay, so I connected my keyboard to my PC. It’s installed and my computer recognizes it as a device in my control panel. But, None of my music players will recognize that I have it plugged in. What music player will recognize I have it plugged in?

Extra info: The reason I am trying to do this is so I can record songs on my piano and have them on my PC so I can share them with people.

My rendition of “Aerodynamic” from Daft Punk. Done with Garage Band on my Mac. I know it’s not the same, but it is a shitty program to do this with. First I played a little sumfin’ to show that it’s real… and, yes, i do know that the last part is totally wrong!

How can I make my connection from piano keyboard to comp work?

I have a Acid Music Studio program, yamaha dgx-500 keyboard, and a usb midi cable. (not the Yamaha UX16 USB MIDI Interface)
I tried recording into the Acid software but it does not play back so I don’t think it’s working correctly. I’ve been trying a long time; maybe this cable isn’t the right one??? I don’t know. Any advice will be great. So what I want to do is be able to record my piano playing into the software and be able to make a cd.
